AT&T is in talks to partner with the city of Los Angeles on an IoT-based, smart city initiative. This initiative is comprised of three core components. The first component is focused on emergency preparedness and structured monitoring. This solution will monitor all types of elevated structures in the city from bridges to buildings. The second area of opportunity is a network of city-wide digital kiosks. These kiosks will provide services to citizens, primarily in homeless encampments throughout the city. The third component will encompass an IoT central solution that will include multiple cameras, environmental sensors and audio sensors. This central solution will be able to monitor traffic, air quality and even detect gun shot sounds.
