The United States has recruited its first AI development ally in its attempt to usurp China in the AI arms race. The two countries have inked an agreement to cooperate in the ongoing development of AI, amid concerns that China is racing ahead in the global market. Much of the two countries’ concern is that China is using AI to infringe on people’s basic human rights. This is why G-7 technology ministers back in May of this year agreed to launch the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), together with other democratic nations.
